FIRE AND FIREWORKS PERMITS
FIRE PERMITS ARE REQUIRED AS OF APRIL 1ST FOR ALL FIRES EXCEPT FOR COOKING OR WARMTH. FIRES FOR COOKING OR WARMTH MUST NOT BE LARGER THAN 3 FEET AROUND AND THE FLAMES MUST NOT GO HIGHER THAN 3 FEET. PERMITS ARE AVAILABLE AT THE MUNICIPAL OFFICE. ONLY PROPERTY OWNERS MAY APPLY FOR A PERMIT. PROPERTY OWNERS MAY PROVIDE A WRITTEN AND SIGNED STATEMENT TO ALLOW SOMEONE ELSE TO PICK UP A PERMIT ON THEIR BEHALF. IF YOU CANNOT COME TO THE OFFICE DURING OPEN HOURS, CALL 475-5229 TO MAKE ARRANGEMENTS. FIRE PERMITS ARE VALID FROM 2 HOURS BEFORE SUNSET TO 2 HOURS AFTER SUNRISE (NIGHT-TIME BURNING ONLY). BURNING WITHOUT A PERMIT MAY RESULT IN A FINE.
Council would remind all residents that fire permits and permits to use fireworks need to be applied for. Fireworks permits require at least one week to issue as it is a requirement that the Fire Chief inspects the area where you wish to hold the display. A copy of the Fireworks By-law is available on the Council Page under By-laws. There is no charge for Fire or Fireworks Permits. If you are unable to come to the office to get a fire permit, please call and staff will work to find a solution.
Council reminds residents that summer Landfill hours begin on May 15th. Wednesday the Landfill will be open from 3 pm to 7 pm. Saturdays remain at 9 am to 3 pm.
New materials that are now accepted in the landfill are tires and electronics. Tires must be clean. Tires with dirt inside will not be accepted. Only passenger and light truck size tires are accepted. You must inform the Landfill Attendant that you have tires. Electronics will be placed into the bin provided. Please inform the Landfill Attendant that you have electronics. Electronics include display devices such as monitors and televisions, desktop computers, laptops and related computer attachments, printers and copiers, telephones and answering machines, cell phones and pagers, home theaters, aftermarket vehicle audio and video devices, cameras and other video devices such as slide projectors. Equipment that has screens, such as monitors, televisions, laptops, cameras and cell phones must not have the screens damaged. Please remember to remove all sensitive or personal materials from computers before bringing them to the Landfill. We continue to work towards accepting used oils and paints.
