FIRE AND FIREWORKS PERMITS

FIRE PERMITS ARE REQUIRED FROM APRIL 1ST TO OCTOBER 31ST FOR ALL FIRES EXCEPT FOR COOKING OR WARMTH. FIRES FOR COOKING OR WARMTH MUST NOT BE LARGER THAN 3 FEET AROUND AND THE FLAMES MUST NOT GO HIGHER THAN 3 FEET. PERMITS ARE AVAILABLE AT THE MUNICIPAL OFFICE. ONLY PROPERTY OWNERS MAY APPLY FOR A PERMIT. PROPERTY OWNERS MAY PROVIDE A WRITTEN AND SIGNED  STATEMENT TO ALLOW SOMEONE ELSE TO PICK UP A PERMIT ON THEIR BEHALF. IF YOU CANNOT COME TO THE OFFICE DURING OPEN HOURS, CALL 475-5229 TO MAKE ARRANGEMENTS. FIRE PERMITS ARE VALID FROM 2 HOURS BEFORE SUNSET TO 2 HOURS AFTER SUNRISE (NIGHT-TIME BURNING ONLY). BURNING WITHOUT A PERMIT MAY RESULT IN A FINE.

Council would remind all residents that fire permits and permits to use fireworks need to be applied for. Fireworks permits require at least one week to issue as it is a requirement that the Fire Chief inspects the area where you wish to hold the display. A copy of the Fireworks By-law is available on the Council Page under By-laws. There is no charge for Fire or Fireworks Permits. If you are unable to come to the office to get a fire permit, please call and staff will work to find a solution.

WELL WATER TESTING

The Thunder Bay District Health Unit has provided well water test bottles for the residents of Conmee. They are available free of charge at the Municipal Office. The Health Unit recommends that your well water be tested at least once per year. There is no charge to have your water tested at the Health Unit Lab. Testing is done for e-coli and coliform contamination. Both of these can cause severe illness in some people. If you are not able to come to the office during office hours, please call 475-5229 and we will make arrangements to get a bottle to you.
